This is an awesome video, demonstrating a key process in a very creative way.
A giant petri dish (in effect) is set up with black agar and has variations of antibiotic from weakest at the side through to strongest in the middle. The bacterial colonies undergo mutations that enable them to colonise the ever increasing antibiotic concentrations.
Visually, this is stunning. Remember- they could have just used flasks and subcultured the bacteria over time with the same ultimate effect (antibiotic resistant bacteria). This project has created a beautiful, visual representation of the process that is very powerful.
It also means that this way of representing change could also be used in animation.
